This can be effectively optimized in most of these patients by surgical palliative drainage procedures and in inoperable cases endoscopic placement of metal biliary stents. Total relief is possible by addressing all the components pain i.e. Physical, Psycho-social, emotional and spiritual Pain.
Decompensated cirrhosis is treated with liver transplant, which is still evolving. Good quality of life is possible with effective palliative care for the patients waiting for a liver transplant or end stage liver disease.
